Received a fax from those idiots a couple of months after I've submitted my fax number to the Do Not Call Register. I then proceeded to lodge a complaint with ACMA and this the email I just received from ACMA regarding my complaint, pretty much saying that they will be monitoring the company for the next 180 days and will escalate it if they receive more complaints about them within that time frame. So please don't hesitate to complain about those spammers.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) recently received your complaint about a potential contravention of the Do Not Call legislation (DNC legislation), which comprises the:
* Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (DNCR Act);
* Telemarketing and Research Calls Industry Standard 2007 (TRCIS); and
* Fax Marketing Industry Standard 2011 (FMIS).

Thank you for the information you provided about the marketing fax you received from Poker Afloat Pty Ltd. The ACMA uses the information provided in consumer complaints to target its compliance and enforcement activities.

The ACMA will notify the company about your complaint and provide it with information about the DNC legislation. After the company receives this notification, the ACMA will monitor the business for 180 days. If further complaints are received during that time, the company may progress to the next stage of regulatory monitoring in accordance with the ACMA's Do Not Call Register complaint handling policy (DNC policy).

The ACMA takes a graduated and strategic approach to compliance and enforcement which is aimed primarily at reducing prohibited calls and faxes to registered numbers as quickly and effectively as possible. In most cases, an informal approach is effective in reducing prohibited calls and faxes, and ensuring businesses comply with the DNC legislation. The ACMA focuses its formal action on those businesses that appear to have the greatest compliance problems, particularly those which receive multiple complaints.

The DNC policy can be viewed at www.acma.gov.au/DNCpolicy. Alternatively, you can request that we post a copy to you.

Thank you for taking the time to lodge a complaint with the ACMA. The information provided in complaints contributes to the action the ACMA is ultimately able to take. If you receive further calls or faxes which you believe to be telemarketing calls or marketing faxes, please lodge a further complaint via the online complaint form at www.donotcall.gov.au or by calling 1300 792 958.

Yours sincerely

I'm in NZ. Sent a pissed off email to the two email addresses (greg@getawaysdownunder.com.au and grant@prospects.com.au which hosts their site) and promptly got sent another fax.

No moral compass whatsoever, just plain Aussie thugs.

They have a new Fax Unsubscribe www.askoff.com.au. It's owned by a NSW "travel agent" Golden Bow Pty Ltd and the Registrant is a Timothe Lamont. However, the address given, 8 Quay Street, Haymarket, appears to be the "City Convenience Store". Looks like just another part of the scam.

So now it's going to be accidentally ringing their 0800 number from NZ and hanging up when they answer. Each one costs them.

@Eddy, yep mine stopped too after I reported them 3 or 4 times also. The reports all add up if we all report them.

So everyone (in OZ) go to https://www.donotcall.gov.au/regNumber.cfm, register your number/s including fax. Wait about a month for it to kick in, then if you still get faxes from them, click here and report them EVERYTIME you receive a fax:
https://www.donotcall.gov.au/complaint1.cfm

I haven't received an unsolicited fax since registering my fax the day they let you register fax no's!! It might take a month or 2 but eventually they will stop (coming from Aus spammers - overseas is another story)

In Australia we have the DO NOT CALL list and we have been able to have marketing faxes stopped since last year. The faxes from Getaways Downunder have all stopped since I reported them three times.
I do not know if NZ have the same type of do not call list.
