Update 2011-11-28: A mostly positive update for a change! As of the 20th October 2011, fax spam will now be covered under the Unsolicited Commercial Messages Act! Woohoo! There is now a process whereby we can submit faxspam to DIA. As an added bonus, Getaways spammed our office against just a few days ago, so I am now in the process of filing my first faxspam complaint with DIA. Please, register a complaint for every faxspam you receive.

I’m in NZ. Sent a pissed off email to the two email addresses (greg@getawaysdownunder.com.au and grant@prospects.com.au which hosts their site) and promptly got sent another fax.

No moral compass whatsoever, just plain Aussie thugs.

They have a new Fax Unsubscribe http://www.askoff.com.au. It’s owned by a NSW “travel agent” Golden Bow Pty Ltd and the Registrant is a Timothe Lamont. However, the address given, 8 Quay Street, Haymarket, appears to be the “City Convenience Store”. Looks like just another part of the scam.

So now it’s going to be accidentally ringing their 0800 number from NZ and hanging up when they answer. Each one costs them.

My EX470 has lead me here. Although it was under different terms. Seems that reliability of the package is being tested. Still working, but I am hedging bets now.

Another option for type one documents is to make them “add only” with content tagged by contributor. The document might become a little unwieldy until the information stabilized, but you’d never loose information. I’m imagining a wiki page where additions are color coded(?) by user. At any time a trusted editor could delete spam/malicious comments and/or ban malicious users.

By tagging edits to a user there is the advantage that readers of the document would likely notice a malicious person’s activities and discount their additions until they could be “officially” removed.

Gavin, can you possibly update this blog or write a new blog with the actual work done; there’s no literature on the actual development that took place as well as a link to the code-base; I’ve been citing this blog but we need an updated citation.

Hi! I need to schange capture date on a bunch of photos taken in India (-4,5 hours). As you know LR does not support 30 minutes selection. I can’t see that the workaround that involves selecting the first photo and adjusting it by the required amount and then change all the rest is possible in LR 3.3?

How do I do that?

@Eddy, yep mine stopped too after I reported them 3 or 4 times also. The reports all add up if we all report them.

So everyone (in OZ) go to https://www.donotcall.gov.au/regNumber.cfm, register your number/s including fax. Wait about a month for it to kick in, then if you still get faxes from them, click here and report them EVERYTIME you receive a fax:

I haven’t received an unsolicited fax since registering my fax the day they let you register fax no’s!! It might take a month or 2 but eventually they will stop (coming from Aus spammers – overseas is another story)

In Australia we have the DO NOT CALL list and we have been able to have marketing faxes stopped since last year. The faxes from Getaways Downunder have all stopped since I reported them three times.
I do not know if NZ have the same type of do not call list.
