I am so wild at the moment that I could break every bone in his body. another bloody fax on both phones
I do have getawaysdownunder.com.au home address (Gregory Bruce Buckley of 45 Sussex Street Yarraville, Victoria Au ) and business address (146 Mason Street, Newport, Victoria Au )and yes I am local to Greg Buckley which makes it a great danger to Greg Buckley,
I am thinking of some thing nice to deliver to him via his place of work and home address.
problem I have is I don't want any one hurt, embarrassed yes, hurt No.
the office where he is working at is upstairs in a small factory but looking at the place you see only a mechanical workshop, the door is seen via this link http://maps.google.com.au/maps?layer=c&cbll=-37.840896,144.870218&cbp=12,,,1,&cid=1295215164622403273&q=146%20mason%20street&ved=0CB8Q2wU&sa=X&ei=5vdgTOHoDo7svQPIiL2oDg
on the right hand side of the building, I see by the roller shutter they have added they must have secured there office up from break-ins,
I feel sorry for there staff, but then if the heat is to hot get out of the kitchen.
Greg or one of your staff, I know you read the blogs on you , your leading a dangerous game, if some one asks to be taken off the list , take them off.
I know you have a total backup system in place, where you take them off and then add them again at a later time, so don't even deny it.
If this is the only way to get to you then so be it.
Website you have me on email, if you had a area on here which I could upload pictures of all the staff at getawaysdownunder.com.au then allow me to send them all up to you

Great job you've done Gavin. Just got a fax from this smartass and noted there's no easy way I can get him to stop faxing me. Also, @ Sue and David above, when I went to their link i just found more bumf for "Getaways". Interesting?

Sam - agree entirely that post is becoming quite irrelevant. Like you though, I would love to see the Post Code database opened up to create new and novel web services. After all Post did a great job of educating everyone what post code they are in, we may as well try and use that information :)

Post is a sunset industry, it will exist for sometime but I can't imagine seeing any new competition. When they released the new postcodes, and even now, they had no reason not to open the whole data set. Revenue from the PAF (Postal Address File) must be tiny (OIA question?). Giving it away would have fostered a developer community (a free postcode lookup webservice API all but guaranteed), and perhaps even encouraged increased postal delivery(!). Never too late for them to go down this path.

Interesting Glen. Of course the DPID would be much more interesting if we had both address and some coordinates to go along with it. Since it is a delivery point, I assume it refers to a PO Box or a letterbox, which is sometimes only an approximation of the property - eg farm letterboxes Definitely need to have some of these core datasets being opened up, but I expect it will take some time. My plan is to try and pick some low hanging fruit and use overseas examples to hopefully reinforce why they should be opened. I'm going to start nagging the Fire Service again soon about the NZ Localities dataset... ;)

I requested my DPID from NZ Post (http://www.nzpost.co.nz/Cultures/en-NZ/ProductsAndServices/D/DeliveryPointIdentifier/DeliveryPointIdentifier.htm) the other day. They responded with:

"The DPID for this address is 67024, I am not sure why you would need to know it."

Each delivery point in NZ has a unique identifier. It would be great if we also get all of that data as well. A single, open address point database for NZ would make things a lot easier on everyone.
